NorseAid readiness
About
A field reference for aid work in Ukraine: evacuation routes, meeting points, border crossings, road signs and a personal health card. Built to work on a phone, in the dark and without signal.
Not an official source
This is a planning tool. Conditions change fast. Always follow the operations lead and the
Ukrainian authorities, and check borders and roads before you leave.
What is stored on your phone
- The health card is stored only on this device. It is never sent to the server and we cannot see it. "Clear all" on the health card deletes it.
- Your login is a single signed cookie. It lasts 30 days after you last used the app.
- Saved pages: while you are logged in, the routes, meeting points, border crossings, cities and signs are saved on the device so they work without signal. Signing out deletes these pages. The health card is kept.
- Your chosen theme (dark, day or night).
What is stored on the server
- No user accounts. No names, email addresses or phone numbers. The whole team shares one password.
- Failed logins are written to the server's operations log with the IP address, to stop password guessing. After ten failures in 15 minutes that address is locked for 15 minutes. The log is rotated automatically.
- Your IP address is also used, at the moment of the request, for the country check (see below). It is not stored for that.
- The operational notice at the top of the pages (text and the name of whoever wrote it) is kept on the server until it is removed.
- No analytics, tracking or advertising. No third-party scripts are loaded in the app.
Access
- The app is behind a shared password. The content is not secret, but it is not meant for everyone.
- Access from Russia, Belarus, China and North Korea is blocked. The check uses local IP address lists (from ipdeny.com) — no third party is asked who you are. Note: occupied areas and Crimea use Russian mobile networks and are therefore blocked too.
- Exact coordinates for the meeting points are deliberately kept out of the app.
Links out of the app
- Map links open Google Maps. Google then sees what is searched for and — for "Nearest to me" — your location, under Google's own terms.
- alerts.in.ua and Diia open with those services.
- The plan as a PDF is downloaded to the device and stays there until you delete it.
